Questions about our publishing package

When your manuscript is accepted for publishing we will provide you with a link to pay 50% of the publishing package fee with a credit/debit card via secure server. Or you will be given the option to send us a cheque if you are a UK customer.

At proof stage when you are happy and have accepted your proofs we will provide you a link to pay us the remaining 50% amount (again by credit card secure server or cheque). We will then publish your book.

This depends how many pages your book has and which of our publishing package you choose. Please see our book price calculator to help to give you an idea what the printing costs would be.

We accept non-fiction and fiction books in a range of categories though we do not accept all books submitted to us; we will review your book first to see if it meets our needs. As of the 24 Jan 2011 the types of books that we do not specialize in and do not accept are:
- Those with explicit/graphic sexual content
- Those with gratuitous violent content or horror
- Religious or spiritual books
- New age
- Those with overuse or unnecessary use of swear words
- Controversial or possibly libelous
- Extreme one sided views
- Occult / magic / sorcery / paranormal
- Textbooks with high amounts of graphics / tables (e.g. over 50 images)
- Colour interior books

We may not accept books that have a large amount of tables in the manuscript or books that have 100 or more chapters, sub chapter headings (as you would find in a business manual book).

No, you do not need to have a Paypal account to pay via credit card. When you get to the Paypal page you will be given the option to either log in if you have a Paypal account or just pay with your credit card. Payment is via a secure server.

Our average turnaround time from when you fist upload your manuscript to when it is ready to be printed (in production) is around 45 to 60 days. If you choose our “Editing add-on” then please allow for an extra 30 days for editing.

Once your book is ready to print (in production) you will receive your author copy in the post in 3 to 5 days for black & white interior books or 7 to 10 days for colour interior books.

Your book will be printed under our own Spiderwize imprint.

Yes as the author is the copyright holder the author name will appear. e.g: All Rights Reserved. Copyright © 2010 AUTHOR NAME.

Also as of 5 Feb 2010 all books we publish will have the following text on the copyright page: “No part of this book may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, graphic, electronic, or mechanical, including photocopying, recording, taping or by any information storage or retrieval system, without the permission in writing from the copyright holder.”

You may order any number of author copies direct from us at the author’s discount price (the price your book costs to manufacture). Once your book is in production you may order your author copies by contacting us via our contact us page with the quantity you would like to order (1 to unlimited) and address to ship them to. We will then get back to you with an invoice and options for you to pay (online with credit card or cheque).

Your book will also be available to order at a number of online retail stores (at the RRP price) including Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk

Please note: Authors do not receive royalties for books sold at the author discount price. If you are selling your books on that you have purchased direct from us at the author discount price then please make sure you add your own profit to the selling price.

We do not restrict the author to a fixed royalty percentage. Instead we will give guidance on what we think the best retail, wholesale and author royalties percentage (amount you earn per book) should be for your book. But the final decision is the author’s, so if you wish to change the amount you will earn per book, then this is fine. Though please keep in the mind the more you wish to earn per book will in turn increase the price your books sells for.

Twice a year we will send you a statement of how much earnings you have made.

With your royalty statement we will also send you a cheque for the amount of royalties we owe you.

Your royalties will be sent to you with your royalty statement twice a year (in June and December).

In your royalty statement it will show how many of your books have been sold for that period.

You sure can. We charge a setup fee of £2.50 per image inserted into the interior of your book.

Yes, at no extra cost you may provide us with your own images and we will use them when constructing your cover. Please note that we will require you to supply the images at a resolution of 300dpi.

Your book will be added to distribution channels and made available to book wholesalers, and therefore will be available to high street stores. Though high street stores would be able to order your book we cannot guarantee that your book will be stocked on the high street shelves. We should point out that it is unlikely for high street stores to stock your book as they focus on selling traditional printed books and usually do not sell print-on-demand books – unless you, as the author, can persuade them to stock your book. Bookstores are often very willing to stock the POD books of local authors.

Yes, because your book will be available to book wholesalers and have the needed ISBN; therefore most brick and mortar bookstores should be able to order the book for you.

There are a number of options; your friends could buy your book from one of the online retailers, including Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. Or They could order the book from a high street bookstore; or, if you purchased your own author copies, they could get the book direct from you – by selling the book yourself you could make more profit per book as you would buy your books from us at the author discount rate.

No. We must make it clear that apart from providing a “Promotional Pack” add-on, marketing your book is not one of our services. Marketing the book is up to you.

You will receive 1 complimentary copy of your book.

Yes, as the author you can purchase your book directly through us at the author’s discount price. The cost per book depends on how many pages your book has and which of our publishing package you choose. Yes, you retain the copyright of your book.

Once your book is ready to print and added to the distribution list, it will take from roughly three to twelve weeks for your book to appear in online stores. As it is up to the online retailer to add your book to their website, we have no control of when they will do this.

No, we don’t provide a fast-track option, as we try and give the same quality of service to each of our customers. Our service is already fast with an average turnaround time of 45 to 60 days – That is, from the day you sign up to the day we are ready to print your book.
