Dropbox Is Pretty Cool

I come with a message today, and the message is – Dropbox is cool. For those of you already in the know, you’ll most likely be nodding your head in smug satisfaction, while those of you who (like me until today) had never previously heard of Dropbox will probably be wondering what I’m talking about.

Dropbox, you see, is a hosting service on the internet that allows you to store your files – everything from photographs to videos and, of course, text files, ideal for those in the self publishing game, on the web without clogging up your computer and/or risking deletion should you suffer a crash or some other calamity. Basically, you download the Dropbox application onto your computer and thereafter any time you save to it, you not only save to your computer and to your Dropbox account on the internet, but even to the likes of your iPhone and iPad. The end result is that not only is your information safe and secure, but you can access it from pretty much anywhere you wish, even when you are out and about.

Best of all probably – it’s free. Or at least, it is up to a certain point. Using just the basic Dropbox app is absolutely free of charge and enables you to store up to 2 GB of information, which would probably be enough for most of us. If for some reason, it isn’t, you can gain more space for a cost, albeit still a fairly reasonable one.

p.s. If you have any storage worries, you really should download Dropbox. As I said before – it’s cool.
